The idea for this site came about when my old Gaggia Classic died after a house move, and I was on the hunt for a new machine. After reading what felt like 5000 reviews, I still didn’t feel like I really understood the good and bad points of a lot of machines. Sales people in physical shops definitely wouldn’t tell me, and I wanted to compare a few different machines easily without having to make spreadsheets (disclosure: I made spreadsheets). I thought a lot of people are probably going through the same thing and ended up with coffee machines they didn’t like or that didn’t work the way they wanted them to.
Recommendations from family and friends are a great place to start, but your friend might be fine with spending ages cleaning their coffee machine or might only want a grinder for their coffee while you want one that’ll do spices too. Doing research after that is a pain, so I’ve done a lot of it for you. I don’t just look at the good parts of each machine/coffee gadget, I try to look for the bad too since that’s ultimately what will make your life harder. The aim of this site is to provide honest information in the form of top 10 lists, and easy ways to compare products without having to flip back and forth between 10+ windows when you’re online.
